When I was recently campaigning for the County Elections the same issues were raised with me time and time again
· Drugs & Other Anti-Social Behaviour
· Unwanted Housing Developments
· Decline of our High Street
· Traffic issues, including Speeding
· How everyone is struggling
The Town Council has direct lines of communication with the Police, Planners, Business Community and our District and County Councils. I intend to use those avenues to get answers and agree solutions.
I don't believe we are getting what we pay our Council Tax and Precept costs for. Did you know you pay extra through a "Precept" which goes directly to the Town Council who then decides how to spend your money? Did you know there are plans to increase that amount significantly, without consultation, and without up to date audited accounts at Wychavon who are the ones requiring it? How do you feel about that?
We need more objectivity on the Town Council and wider perspectives the other candidate can not offer. If you vote for them you vote for more of the same, not fresh eyes and challenge from someone who actually lives in the Town.
It is also clear looking at the Town Council’s finances, policies, and procedures not enough scrutiny is being applied to keeping everyone safe and to provide transparency and value for money. For example where are the Safeguarding policies to protect our vulnerable children and adults?
We have many Veterans in the Town and we're not signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant. I would propose that immediately in office.
The Town Council should be a place where healthy debate and effective management is standard but over the years this has sometimes been lacking. I would strive to add additional professionalism to the Councl.
I want to truly speak up for all of us in Pershore, and work alongside other Councillors, to ensure everyone who lives here is represented and included equally.
I will stand for you and our town with dignity and respect and ensure there is action not just talk.
